About Me, Raighne Davidson

I am a word nerd. I love to play with letters. When they misbehave and jump out of order, I like to help them find their way back. I’m a proofreader and I love it. Let me help your letters find their proper place, too! I’ve proofed screenplays, teleplays, novels, legal graphics, ad copy, brochures, and I’m ready to proof your work as well.

I’m Raighne (pronounced ‘rainy’ – like the weather). My name is odd, so I think that constantly having to spell and pronounce it for everyone throughout my life has given me a deep appreciation for simplicity in language. Please don’t misunderstand me, I love my name and its uniqueness and the story behind its meaning, but look at it. Seriously, just look at it. And if I can handle that, I can proof anything you bring me.

I graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree. My major was early childhood special education. I’ve also taken classes in history, biology, chemistry, medical terminology, philosophy, photography, dance history, exercise physiology, kinesiology, political science, and those are just some of my favorites. I won multiple spelling bees in school until the administration forbade me from competing because no one else won (true story). I am a highly accomplished classically trained ballerina. I live in LA, so of course I was an actress for a while. I read – voraciously. Growing up, my family went on countless vacations to Civil War battlefields all over the country. My father was a race car driver and I learned to handle a wrench before I was in preschool. I love baseball and football. My husband is a musician and my children take piano and swim lessons. I mention all of these things because they form the knowledge base that I draw from to properly execute my work. I believe that knowledge from wide and varied sources provides a more diverse palette of experiences from which I can draw. If your words need to explain the dynamic speed of a car as it careens around a track and the heat from the engine as it pulls into the pits with a crowd surging behind celebrating its victory, I know how to help you tell that story. If your words need to educate the public about the importance of early intervention for children with developmental delays, I know how to help you tell that story, too. I love to make letters and words work to tell stories, and I can do it well.

I hope that my love of letters and words, combined with my wonderfully varied background, can help you tell the story that you want to tell – with simplicity and correctness.
